April 8,2006 ..... a beautiful day which started off a bit on the chilly side, but soon became another great day for R/C flying. The first seven photos show what happens when Nick decides to play combat, and for lack of any willing participants, embarks upon an endeavor with himself. Chasing his attached ribbon until he manages to cut it, then chases what hasn't already been shredded until it is almost to the ground and shreds the remainder to bits. All of this done with his SPAD pizza box flyer!
Also shown flying this day are Dave S. and Dave Nix.
We hope you enjoy viewing the photos as much as those of us who enjoyed a great day of flying.

Sunday, April 9, 2006 proved to be another super day, with temps even warmer than the day before. Fred had a neat surprise... he had loaded his Cub with two parachutes and dropped them on one of his flights. The little guys were even found and brought back in for another ride on another day. Roger brought one of his planes which has a very unique wing design. Check it out, it's the yellow one. Sharp plane!

Just when you think the weather couldn't possibly get any better for mid April, along comes April 14th, 2006! Afternoon temps rose into the low 80's and it was much appreciated by Nick, Dave Nix and Tim. Tim flew his Aircore for the first time this year, and Dave brought his SPAD. It was still in the experimental stages (as you will understand later) and after major modifications, and two bolts through its "neck", he decided to name it FrankenSPAD. :) Everyone had great fun with Frankenspad, so we've included some pics of it. Just remember, as Frankenstein's creator was never satisfied with him, so will this saga unfold. Boy, let's hope FrankenSPAD doesn't turn into a real monster!
But firstly, Tim's Aircore, then Nick's Giles 202, before we venture into the world of FrankenSPAD.

April 15, 2006 another nice, but slightly windy day. Nick, Dave Nix and Roger enjoyed the day. Roger brought his Kaos, which you will see pictured below. The ever evolving tale of FrankenSPAD continued. When Nick decided that it would certainly maneuver better and fly faster with a shorter wingspan, FrankenSPAD once more went under the doctor's knives. The surgery was a success as far as increased maneuverability and airspeed, but alas, poor FrankenSPAD for the time being is now known as RankenSPA. We have pictures. It's sad. :) But, every cloud has a silver lining! RankenSPA became a chute dropper... yup, we have pictures of that too. Never fear. It performed super with its slimmed down body, except when it became fondly attached to one of the chutes and refused to let go of it. Fun day.. very fun day!
And, by the way, Happy Easter from the flywing wabbits at Platteville Area Modelers.

May 6, 2006.... Finally, a break in the weekend rains that have plagued us for the past few weeks. Marc used the opportunity to maiden flight his new CD-120 (Cloud Dancer)... he has built the plane from scratch. No kit, no ARF. Hand made... what a beauty it is! Here are a few pictures of it as he makes some pre-flight tuneups on it.

May 7, 2006 gave us another great day for flying. Taking advantage of the weather were Marc, Dave Nix, Andy, Roger and our newest member Dick. The day was greatly enjoyed by all of us!
